Emery County School District
Policy: GBH-Staff Community Involvement
Date Adopted: 17 August 1988
Current Review / Revision: 7 January 1998
The support of public education depends upon the confidence the public has in its schools. It is the Board's wish that all employees become an integral part of the community, share in its life and interests, and contribute to its general welfare.
Staff members have a professional responsibility which extends beyond the four walls of the classroom and beyond the hours of teaching service. This responsibility is to seek opportunities to interpret the school system to members of the community. This responsibility also imposes the need to exercise restraint in offering casual personal opinions which may be accepted as factual information by uninformed laymen. Therefore, the Board wishes staff members to be well informed concerning the educational philosophy, goals, policies, regulations, and programs of the school system so that questions can be answered accurately and in a straight forward manner.
