Length of the school day for students:

The kindergarten program is a half day program and must be held at least two and one-half hours to qualify as a day of school. This is 12.5 hours per week.

In grade one, school must be held at least four and one-half hours, exclusive of lunch periods, to qualify as a day of school. This is 22.5 hours per week.

In grades two through twelve, school must be held at least five and one-half hours, exclusive of lunch periods, to qualify as a day of school. This is 27.5 hours per week.

The length of the school day for students with unusual problems may be excepted from the above requirements and established in view of the student’s particular needs.

A variance from the standard length of the school day due to extraordinary circumstances such as new building construction must be approved by the State Board of Education.
